MENTORING EMPOWERING YOUTH GLOBAL ACHIEVEMENT (MEYGA)
Multi-Ethnic Youth Group Association, Inc (MEYGA) mission promotes the mental, physical and social well-being of senior, youth and families by inspiring and empowering them with self-sufficient activities that are customized to meet the goals and objectives which lead them to the role of independencies. MEYGA addresses issues of economic, social development and self-sufficiency. Our research has shown Economic and social context indicators point to a community in stress.
The organization wa s founded in 2001. We are a non-profit 501© 3 corporation, registered in the State of Florida. MEYGA is licensed and certified through The Department of Children and Families for level (1) prevention, for adults and youth for the past five years. MEYGA has provided services and resources for individuals and families who reside in the Liberty City, Brownsville and Little Haiti neighborhoods. MEYGA has provided more than three years of dedication to (DHS) Department of Human Services and (TCT) The Children’s Trust. MEYGA has demonstrated the capacity to manage programs effectively with the aide of workshops & training provided by DHS and TCT.
The The proposed program (MEYGA Project) consists of several programs which are assessed as being in high need in under-served areas. The programs are: Youth programs, Senior program, Job Development and Food & Distribution. MEYGA’s approach for evaluating clients is based on intakes, assessments, referrals, pre/mid/post tests, self evaluations, surveys or staff observation. All services and referrals are confidential and documented into MEYGA’s main database. All expenditures will be processed in MEYGA’s accounting system which will have each funding group categorized as individual expenditures. Once more, MEYGA’s core staff has five years of experience developing and maintaining the appropriate records to keep track of measurable outcomes and prepare program reports, fiscal reports, vouchers & invoices. All clients & employee’s information is safeguarded by computer passwords for data systems, locking file cabinets and all staff must sign a confidentiality form to protect all clients information that relates to The MEYGA Project. Recruitment consist of: existing waiting list, clients & community partner referrals, local schools & businesses, advertising in local newspapers, radio & television stations, open parent orientation, registration and community events.
